A new coalition organized by CRD Associates is calling on the House and Senate Appropriations Committees to continue support for the Pentagon’s medical research program. In a letter sent earlier this week the 50 diverse organizations that comprise the Defense Health Research Consortium urged Congress to fund several dozen medical research programs at the Department of Defense These programs, funded annually in the Defense Appropriations Act, include the “Congressional Directed Medical Research Programs” and other research programs funded through the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC).
The organizations signing the letter include patient advocacy organizations, professional medical societies, research foundations, and veterans’ organizations.
The Defense Health Research Consortium consists of 12 national patient advocacy organizations that represent patients suffering from both prevalent conditions such as prostate cancer, to rare disorders like tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). The patients represented by these groups have benefitted significantly from the cutting-edge medical research funded by the defense health research programs.
CRD Associates is proud to have helped organize this new consortium and to have assisted with this important letter, a first step in the fiscal year 2015 appropriations process.
