Case Studies

Transportation and infrastructure comprise the platform of the US economy. Improvements in railways, ports, highways and bridges lead to economic development locally and regionally and ultimately facilitate greater competitiveness in the global marketplace. To those ends, our firm has secured funding for a wide range of clients including municipalities, ports, academic institutions and others.

  • On behalf of the Port of Los Angeles, CRD Associates secured funding from Congress for a $2.5 million channel deepening project at the Port of Los Angeles as well as for a Technology Advancement Program and Clean Technology Development Center. CRD Associates also helped mobilize the California congressional delegation to block implementation of a proposed federal rule that jeopardized $150 million in economic activity and nearly 1,000 California-based jobs. On a related front, CRD Associates helped convince lawmakers to waive the cost-sharing requirements of port security grants, saving the Port of Los Angeles millions of dollars.
  • On behalf of Rutgers University, CRD Associates worked with congressional lawmakers to secure more than $16 million for institutional development projects, including $10 million for the creation of a state-of-the-art internal communications system that opened up classes to high achieving students in urban high schools, a biological science research facility and an environmental laboratory. CRD Associates also secured $6.5 million in annual authorizations for the University’s National Transit Institute and the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation.
  • On behalf of the Collegiate Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development, CRD Associates secured $2.3 million through the Department of Defense Appropriations for a worker retraining initiative for veterans, National Guard members and reservists returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
  • Working with Franklin & Marshall College, CRD Associates successfully advocated for several campus-based initiatives including federal funding for a new Life Sciences Building and redevelopment funds for a former industrial site recently acquired by the College. CRD Associates recently helped secure a $4 million grant from the Federal Railroad Administration for a rail relocation project to move a rail switching yard adjacent to campus property.
